Thomas J. Goree to Sarah W. Goree, March 23, 1862 [Goree Family Papers MSS. – LS.] Letter from Thomas J. Goree to his mother Sarah W. Goree, discussing his regiments movement from Centreville, VA to the area near Gordonsville. On their march his regiment encountered and burned a number of large stock piles belonging to the "Yankees." Goree also expresses, that he has had bad luck with losing packages, and describes a situation where he entrused a man to carry a package for him, only to never see the man or his package again
